Read General Candle Safety and Tips, first.
1. Place candles on a protected, heat resistant surface, such as a trivet. Hot jars can damage furniture.
2. Remove any paper tags or raffia ribbon before burning your jar candle.
3. You may tie a wide ribbon around the jar (not the jar lip) to match your decor if you’d like.
4. Use toenail clippers or specially designed wick-trimmers to trim hard to reach wicks in jars.
5. If the jar candle has two wicks, such as the ones featured on this web site, both wicks should be lit each time you burn your candle.
6. In addition, candles with two wicks should not have any decorative covers (lids, “lamp shades”, etc) placed on the jar. These covers are made for jars with single wicks.
7. If using special jar lids with decorative cutouts (do not use at all if the candle has two or more wicks), lids could cause severe skin burns or cause fires on flammable materials.
8. Be cautious of placing jar candles on an electric candle warmer plate. The heat is too high for some natural waxes, such as the brand featured on this web site, which causes the wax to expand too rapidly and will shatter the jar and spill hot wax.
9. The remaining wax in your jar can be scooped out and placed in a tart warmer to enjoy any remaining scent.
